Polaris continues to move workforce development forward in its role as the Manufacturing Industry Partner for the Governor’s Workforce Board RI (GWBRI).

The GWBRI workforce training grants are vital to helping manufacturers dedicate time and money to training employees.

Advanced manufacturing operates in a complex network of suppliers, skill sets, and innovators needing capabilities including:

  • Engineering
  • Manufacturing
  • Finance
  • Research & development
  • Systems engineering
  • Machinists
  • Business development
  • Industrial design
  • Creative professionals

Retaining current employees, adding to their skill sets, and raising their performance levels is essential to business growth. Continuous improvement efforts in workforce development on behalf of the manufacturing community will allow for refinement and training of new skills for employees to participate in advanced manufacturing jobs of the future.

Polaris will help you get on board with the following programs:

Incumbent Worker Training Grant Assistance

The Governor’s Workforce Board (GWB) Incumbent Worker Training Grant program is funded by the Job Development Fund (JDF) and provides matching grants to businesses to increase the skills of current employees and increase the competiveness and productivity of RI businesses and workers. Proposals will be reviewed and awarded (if qualified) within 30 days. Businesses may receive up to two Incumbent Worker Training Grants (only one may be active at a given time) in a 12-month period (not to exceed $45,000 or twelve months of funding). Please contact us at 401-270-8896 for more information.

On-the-Job Training (OJT)

If your company is involved in an On-the-Job-Training program, consider including a Polaris program in your staff training mix. Our team can help you to incorporate cutting-edge manufacturing-related training in areas such as lean enterprise, continuous improvement, quality and management systems, succession planning and many others.
