During WWII, some companies needed to add to their workforce to meet the needs of the war effort while others slowed down. As the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to impact Rhode Island’s manufacturing sector, we find ourselves in a similar situation.
Polaris MEP created the employer Talent Exchange to support manufacturers in this unique situation. Your employer has chosen to offer an additional resource, a service that will attempt to speed temporary or new permanent employment.
Although unemployment claims will be paid per the Governor’s public statements, Employees released from their current employment will likely not be supported with re-employment services for weeks or months as a result of the high volume of claims. This extension pilot will try to ease matchmaking.
This is NOT a job board for currently-employed individuals seeking alternative options. This is a resource for talented manufacturing workers whose employers joined the Talent Exchange, and asked for help for displaced or furloughed workers.
Follow the link below and fill out your contact information. Representatives will review responses and see if they can make matches for team members with in-demand skills/experience.
We appreciate that these are trying times. This employee extension pilot does not replace Unemployment Insurance. To receive UI support, contact the DLT directly using their online tools at http://www.dlt.ri.gov/.
