Polaris MEP is hiring an Energy Improvement Programs Intern, an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to impactful projects alongside our dedicated team.
Polaris MEP, a division of URI Research Foundation and an affiliate of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) National Network, guides Rhode Island manufacturers to sustainable growth, innovative technology strategies and cost-efficient operations.
Polaris MEP serves small to medium sized manufacturers by providing direct business improvement services and solutions, as well as by connecting companies to local, regional and national resources.
Polaris MEP regularly offers opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic intern to support daily operations including supply chain, speeding the delivery of growth programs. This is an opportunity for a motivated college-age candidate to contribute to the growth of RI’s manufacturing ecosystem alongside our dedicated team of business advisors.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be involved in various aspects of developing and supporting the Polaris MEP team with the roll-out of several new energy improvement and sustainability programs:
- Assisting with the identification and engagement of Energy Improvement, Smart Manufacturing Technology/High-Performance Computing resource partners.
- Supporting the development and deployment of Smart Manufacturing Technology/High-Performance Computing solutions for Small and Medium-sized Manufacturers.
- Contributing to workforce development initiatives, with a focus on underserved communities.
- Participating in activities aimed at reducing energy use and emissions.
- Documenting and analyzing project outcomes and impacts.
- Represent Polaris MEP at promotional events.
- Other duties as assigned to support the operation and success of Polaris MEP.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a college program related to sustainability, energy efficiency, or similar fields, or equivalent experience.
- Interest in the manufacturing sector and sustainable practices.
- Proven ability to build trust and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools and Salesforce recommended.
