The RI MADE defense manufacturing program will provide resources which advance Automation & Robotics, Cyber Resiliency, and Risk Mitigation through a minimum of 50 projects with Rhode Island manufacturing companies.

These resources include technical and/or capital assistance and support of up to $50,000. Applications for the first round open February 1, 2023 and close March 1, 2023.

What Is RI MADE, the new Defense Manufacturing Program?

The RI MADE defense manufacturing program will provide resources which advance Automation & Robotics, Cyber Resiliency, and Risk Mitigation through a minimum of 50 projects with Rhode Island manufacturing companies.

These resources include technical and/or capital assistance and support of up to $50,000.

Why Was RI MADE Created?

RI MADE stands for “Rhode Island Manufacturing to Accelerate the Defense Ecosystem.” The initiative is funded by a $5 million grant from DoD Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. It is a partnership of University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Department of Labor & Training, MxD, ARM, and powered by Polaris MEP.

The RI MADE program will make long-term investments in research and development, critical skills, facilities, workforce development and small business support to strengthen the national security innovation base.

Who is Eligible for RI MADE?

Any Rhode Island manufacturing company, including those currently in the Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain and those who are considering defense-related contracts, are invited to apply for RI MADE.

What Is the Deadline To Apply to the Defense Manufacturing Program?

• February 1, 2023 – Applications open for first round
• March 1, 2023 – Applications for first round close
• March 31, 2023 – Companies selected for first round
• March 1, 2023 and ongoing – “rolling admission” – applications accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis
• Late March/Early April, 2023 – Site tours and assessments begin
• Summer 2023 – Companies selected for second round
