Supply Chain Validation Program Manager

Objective/Summary:                            

Polaris MEP, a division of URI Research Foundation and an affiliate of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) National Network, guides Rhode Island manufacturers to sustainable growth, innovative technology strategies and cost-efficient operations.

Polaris MEP serves small to medium sized manufacturers by making connections and introductions to the appropriate resources and programs available to assist in their growth through a variety of programs and activities. In its role as the Statewide Rhode Island Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Center, Polaris MEP seeks to hire a Advanced Manufacturing Project Manager with automation and technology experience.

Project Managers are core to the success of Polaris MEP programs and to the manufacturing community in Rhode Island.  This position is responsible for identification, delivery and update of support and growth programs to these companies.  The ideal candidate has a proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development.  The candidate must possess sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.  The ideal candidate works effectively in a team-dependent environment but is self-reliant, results oriented, energetic, flexible, and proactive.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of the Blue Manufacturing Initiative in Rhode Island.
    • Align program activities with DIU goals and Polaris MEP’s mission to support manufacturers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as the primary liaison between Polaris MEP, DIU, local manufacturers, and other MEP Centers.
    • Facilitate collaboration between tech developers and vetted manufacturers.
  • Manufacturer Vetting & Assessment
    • Oversee the review of manufacturer applications and coordinate site visits.
    • Ensure consistent and rigorous evaluation of cybersecurity, supply chain integrity, and operational readiness.
  • Reporting & Compliance
    • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations.
    • Ensure all participating manufacturers meet compliance standards, especially in cybersecurity.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Work with internal teams (e.g., cybersecurity, lean manufacturing, workforce development) to support manufacturers.
    • Coordinate with national MEP Network partners to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Impact Measurement
    • Track program metrics including manufacturer onboarding, geographic distribution, and economic impact.
    • Use data to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Public Policy, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, preferably in manufacturing, defense, or technology sectors.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, cybersecurity standards, and advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience working with government agencies or federally funded programs is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel for site visits and national coordination meetings.
