WARWICK, RI –  ATW Companies, Desktop Metal and Parmatech Corporation joined together to launch PD3, an all-new specialized R&D and manufacturing company. The three organizations, who bring their own unique expertise to the new venture, made the announcement at a recent ribbon cutting event in Warwick, RI.

Warwick, RI based ATW Companies is the world-class suppliers of precision tubing and fabricated metal components. Burlington, MA based Desktop Metal is a company committed to accelerating the transformation of manufacturing with end-to-end metal 3D printing solutions. Parmatech Corporation, also based in Warwick, RI, is a member of ATW Companies and the world leader in Metal Injection Molding (MIM),. P3D, the newest member of the ATW Companies, is a specialized R&D and manufacturing company focused on developing the bound metal powder feedstock that is utilized in the bound metal deposition process of the Desktop Metal Studio System™.

By leveraging expertise in powdered metallurgy, material science, high performance metal alloys, cutting edge mechanical design, and industrial, structural, and safety, Desktop Metal worked closely with the team from P3D to design a state-of-the-art facility with unique capabilities. The P3D facility can develop and manufacture a wide range of materials, including; stainless steel alloys such as 316 and 17-4, carbon steel alloys such as 4140 and 420, super alloys such as Inconel, and specialty alloys such as titanium and Veloxint.

P3D’s unique combination of equipment, facility design, and expertise allows development of systems to bind almost any alloy for use in the Desktop Metal Studio System™, providing the end user a wide range of bound metal powder solutions.

P3D is located in Warwick, Rhode Island, and the Grand Opening event was attended by representatives from Desktop Metal, ATW Companies, Polaris MEP, and Parmatech Corporation.
