Mary Serreze of Providence Business First reports that the URIRF (University of Rhode Island Research Foundation, Polaris MEP’s parent organization) has named Christian Cowan its first full-time Executive Director.
Cowan had previously served as VP/COO of URIRF and has private-sector experience in manufacturing, technology and business development.
URIRF is “a nonprofit that works to enhance the university’s contribution to economic development in Rhode Island and the region,” notes Serreze.
Per the article:
‘The foundation says its work in 2021 led to $21 million in new capital investment in the state and helped retain nearly 800 manufacturing jobs.
“I’m truly honored to lead an organization that I have had the pleasure to work in for the past eight years,” stated Cowan. “I look forward to better defining our role in the regional ecosystem and increasing our positive impact on the economy, URI, technology-based industries, and opportunities for all communities.”’
