Leaders – give managers and supervisors a methodology for reducing employee turnover and handling more people problems on their own (freeing you up for other activity) with training in “Job Relations.”

Job Relations training addresses common challenges faced by Rhode Island businesses. Through this virtual workshop,  supervisors will learn to establish and maintain good relations with their front-line workers, and dealing with problems as they arise.

The online, cohort-style training empowers participants, as they see how many challenges are common to different companies across different industries. The workshop is offered for alumni of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Busineses of Rhode Island program and participants from other partner initiatives. This constructive and collaborative atmosphere boosts learning.

November 12 to December 10, 2024 ; Tuesdays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (one 2hr virtual session/ week for 5 weeks)

In this 5 week-long program, students will be trained to use a simple, repeatable and proven methodology. Participants will gain good leadership skills and become stronger supervisors because they know how to:

  • Build trust and collaboration needed for continuous improvement
  • Have a consistent, coachable methodology for dealing with “people problems”
  • Create an inclusive work environment; help all employees contribute to their full potential
  • Better attract, train and retain employees

What to Expect

Through 5 weeks of interactive classes, you’ll learn both how to handle “peoplejob relations training problems” and how to prevent them from occurring. Participants will earn a certificate and gain useful strategies they can apply immediately.

  • Session 1: Polaris MEP’s instructors will review the needs of good supervisors and introduce a Four-Step Method for good Job Relations.
  • Sessions 2 through 4: The class will practice the Four-Step Method by collaborating on a case study. Participants also will review current workplace problems to see how the Four-Step Method could/should be applied to every day work.
  • Session 5: Review current workplace problems and the application of the Four-Step Method. Explore how to get acceptance of Job Relations methodology at your Rhode Island business.

About the Trainer

Polaris MEP Project Manager, Nathan Bonds, is an experienced manufacturer certified by the TWI Institute to train others in the Job Relations methodology. He is a passionate trainer and teacher.
