Kicking off the 19-week program earlier this January, Cohort 20 is starting strong!

The sixteen students enrolled in the Polaris MEP CCRI Fast Track to Manufacturing Program have already embarked on an incredible journey.

They have had the opportunity to explore and immerse themselves in eight Rhode Island manufacturing facilities, each offering a unique and valuable experience. This hands-on approach has allowed the students to gain a plethora of essential skills that will undoubtedly propel them towards success in the manufacturing industry.

As they progress through the program, the students are currently delving into the fascinating subjects of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and are eagerly anticipating their venture into the world of 3D Modeling with SolidWorks software.

I had the privilege of joining the enthusiastic crew on one day of their tours, which took place at three distinct locations: Mahr, Taco, and Central Tool. Each manufacturer showcased cutting-edge technology, captivating challenges, and a promising outlook for a prosperous future.

While visiting the facilities, the students were filled with excitement and awe as they witnessed the equipment they had recently learned to use being applied in real-world scenarios. The students were engaged and asking many questions to the guides – two of which were Alumni from Cohort 17! The tangible impact of curiosity and desire to acquire knowledge from the students was truly inspiring.

By participating in this program, the students are not only equipping themselves with invaluable skills but also laying the foundation for a rewarding and fulfilling career in the manufacturing industry. Their dedication and determination are evident as they embrace every opportunity to learn and grow.

Cohort 20 is setting a remarkable precedent, and their journey towards success is well underway!
